The Little White Lies Design

These were drafts Anastasia did in the process of making the final poster. She played around with photoshop and colours to represent different atmospheres and moods for our film. She used colour to portray the impressions the characters appearence would give.

Red signifying danger, blood, anger and but blueish/greyish colour representing the misery and coldness of the character. The dripping effect at the bottom is a metaphore for sweat caused by tension but also blood due to the death or bloodshed that is to come or occur in the movie, creating suspense for the reader.

We decided to go with the first cover, featuring red colours, which represented blood. As the genre we were looking for our film was neo-noir, to conform to that genre there are a lot of bright, contrasting colours with dark, shady characters such as Frank the Hitman. It portrays an atmosphere of depth and mystery but also conveys conventions of LWL which include the central main character, colours and patterns along with the Little White Lies stamp.

Other Designs

Other designs included the optical illusion poster, we decided to use this for the image next to our article because it adds and is similar to our front cover. This engages with our audience as it is visually stunning. Also gives it a sense of mystery and suspense.

Article Designs

Here are a few drafts of the Article for Little White Lies done by Jada and different designs done by Francesca Hardy and the article was written by Jada Brevett. Rather than being over artisitic, we went with suggestions that the article should look very simplistic instead. This meant we would would have stills of the film to show the reader what the film was about and what would they see in terms of visuals. My personal favourite was the first ones because the reader already see the neo noire style of low key lighting and warm colour grading combined and other technical aspects as they are referenced in the article. Most of the designs show our characters in action, but there is also a sun bed which informs the audience that most of the film takes place in a tanning salon.

In the bottom, there is also a different sort of article design which uses the same colour palette as our front cover Little White Lies poster. There is also a sign saying "Open 24 Hours," which is witty since the film takes place in an an off license. The red and black colour pallette combined gives off that neon noire style of visual.
